Long Hot Summer!

It has been such a long hot summer. Now our state is facing horrible drought conditions with wildfires go along with it. There are wildfires abundant in the state of Texas, and our hearts and prayers are with all those affected and with the brave men and women fighting these fires. So far we have been blessed that none of the fires have directly affected our house and home, but we have dear friends who have had to evacuate their homes.

It's been a long, hot, and kinda boring summer. Too hot for any of us to do much outside, we do our buziness and get back in to the a/c! Hunter had to have a growth removed a few weeks ago...it was a melanoma...which seems to have been caught in time. I'm glad....I love that brudder of mine. Defi is still here, too...no more seizures and she seems to be doing ok...but a decision needs to be made whether she can still attempt treatment for her heartworms.

Defi is an 11 year old corn dawg just wike me! Sadly fur her, her owners died, and she landed wiff someone who didn't know much abowt corn dawgs and our wayz, and dat purson turned her in to a shelter. Defi has heartworms, and she is going to be treated fur dem, but der is the possibilitee dat this will make her go into congestive heart failure. We are hoping and praying for successful treatment for this sweet senior corn dawgie! We wub diz gurl, and hope dat our furriends will add der gud thots and prayerz fur her. Our fosser brudder Hector, now known as Arnie, went to hiz own fureber home last Thursday. We miss him, but he'z gotz a gurreat nu home wiff a mommie and daddie who wurk from home, with a fenced-in yard, a house wiff a doggie door, and a CP sisfur to play wiff. They seem to wub him and sinse he wubz eberyone, we tink he will be happy dere.

Den, it'z been COLD here in SE Texas. Twise in two weekz we've had bwoken pipes by our wadder well, meanz no wunning wadder! Not fun for de hoomanz to say de weast ob it. Yesderday daddie got a company to kome owt and fix de pipes and wepwace de switch on de well and de gauge and we hab wadder egin. Hopefully dis iz de wast ob de wadder pwoblemz.

We're weady for spring here....and fur de next week now it'z sposed to FEEL like spring with temps in the 50's at nite to the 70's in the daytime. Yeahhhh!

Mommy's been busy, busy....

She's had lots and lots of home safety visits to coordinate for CP...a GOOD thing, it means LOTS of applicants...over 100 already in January in total...she had several all going at one time last week! Plus, she's had a cold/bronchitis for almost 2 weeks again...so she's not felt well. So, she hasn't been a very good secretary for me...but she promises to be better.

I had my semi-annual checkup a couple of weeks ago and was pronouced healthy and not needing a tooth cleaning until 2011!

Hunter was also declared a healthy boy for his annual checkup!!

Mommy will be going to NYC from Feb 15-17 for the Westminster Dog Show with some CP friends...Hunter and me will stay home with dad.

Hunter and Mom Went on a Road Trip

wiffout mee....sense I duzn't much wike widing in de kar ting n I'm not berry komfortable wiff nu pwaces and peeple, I stayed home wiff daddie. Wast weekend Hunter n mom went up to NE TX and bisited our furriends Smoke n Tess and der Mah-ahm and den dey ALL went to Loosiana and bisited anudder fwiend wiff 6 doggies! AND, der dey also met up wiff uder fwiends bisiting Loosiana who wibs in Birginia. Mom seyz Hunter was a gud boi, a gud widdle twabbeller, and he was gud wiff de uder dawgs and peeple. He did gwowl a cuple ob times wen a dawg got into his fase...but it wazn't a sewious mean gwowl...just more ob a 'gwumble" gwowl! Daddie told mommie dat I "moped" while she n Hunter were gone....and I WAS so happee to see them Sunday ebening. Human Gramma is Very Sick

She has been diagnosed wif lymphoma...and she had surgery on Tuezday to wemobe a mass...but she'z refuzing to hab chemo or wadiation to fowwow up...so de surgeon wazn't sure why she wanted de surgery eder den. Mommie went to Waco and stayed wif gramma for de surgery and fur a cuple ob dayz abter...and den she weft gramma in de capable handz ob a fwiend who is an LVN (and waz laid off wecently). So, if I dun't hab a chanse to post fur a while...eberyone pwese keep gramma and mommie in your thoughts and yu will also now why we habn't posted.

Den we got to dat V-E-T pwace and I gotz my shots and got wuked all ober from head to tale. De V-E-T sed my heart iz weally gud and I seems to be in gud shape fur an almost 10 year old pupper. WELLLLL, mommie n daddie fownd diz behavior unakseptable??? I waz put on a Noffing in Wife is Fwee kind of pwogram...no more bed, no more couch, sitting for EBERYTING from being weashed to tweats to meals to being petted!! Fwiday nite momma came home fwum wurk and I wasn't fewling gud, dindn't want to take my wawk, wefused my supper...so she kalled de vet obbise wight away....and off we went to see Dr. Seamans....who found a wot ob gas on my tummy. She gabe me a shot and sum medisine to take and yesderday morning I ate my bweakfust, but I still wazn't fewling real gud. I did eat supper wast nite and I fewl wike bawking at daddie when he gotz home fwom wurk. Dis morning I was weady to go wawking and I ates my bweakfast....and I fownd a cuple ob baby wabbits befur daddie cud stop me. Mommie and daddie sure lub me a wot, and dey hope dis haz just been a widdle tummy upset!

On anudder note....Jella is a weal chawwenge fur awl ob us...she is a "wild child" and she izn't totally potty twained. She "nibbles" hands and getz wotz of "no bite" and she'z been wearing doggie diapers! She is a sweet girl dough. Well,befur we no it, 2009 will be heer.....where or where haz 2008 gone?? So much has happened to everybuddy in the USA and to our familee, tu. We hab added a nu fur kid, my brudder Hunter, to our familee, and mommie and daddie say he's sure bringing out my "inner cairn" whateber dat meens! Den de economee haz hit almost eberyone we no in sum way or anudder....and we pway dat it getz bedder in 2009. Den, der was Hurricane Ike dat paid uz a bizit in September...and dat waz not fun and weally scawy!! We were bwessed not habbing damage to our home, but we did go wifout electricty and wadder for 10 days. Mommie weft uz and went on a cwuise, lebbing uz home wif daddie for a week, tu, and daddie did gud taking care ob uz. We hope daddie can finally offisially retire in 2009, so hoping it'z a gud year for him!

It's my 3rd "Gotcha Day" Annifursary Today!

So Hurricane Ike paid SE Texas a bisit, and it has changed de fase of dis part ob de world fur a wong time to come. De pawrents wived in Huston when Hurricane Alicia came thru, and it did not cause nearly the damage or cause nearly as much heartache as did this Ike guy. We camped out in a hotel room de nite dat Ike came roaring ashore...living in a double wide mobile home, de pawrents decided discretion was the better pawt of valour! So, they watched the winds howl and the rain blow from a hotel room window and prayed that we would have a home to come back to. Fortunately (for us) Ike made a bit of a direct northerly track once onshore instead of the projected path, and that 20-30 miles made a world of difference for us. Our home was not damaged, not even the satellite TV dish or the internet dish, but we did come home to no electricity or water since without electricity we have no water with a water well! We were without power and water until yesterday morning....the hoomans were seeming to be more than a bit stressed! Our hearts hurt for every hooman and every pup who lost their homes and/or business....but Texans are a resilient bunch, and we would bet on Galveston and the other devastated areas coming back as good as or better than before.

Mommy's been so dog-gone busy this summer at wurk....she hasn't had much time to post here for me and Hunter....but I told it's about time!

We haven't done much real exciting this summer..it's so hot outside we haven't even gone to the park again lately. Our walks are much shorter than me and the Hunter would like, too, but the hoomans say we'd get too over heated (I think they mean THEY get over heated).

But, next weekend we are supposed to have some bisitors...Smoke and Tess (mini dachsies) and their mah-ahm are supposed to be here Saturday and Sunday-that is, unless the storm that's brewing in the Carribean pays us a visit then. Mom tells us there are rules for us when Smoke and Tess are here....and we must abide by them, among them are...not everything in the house is ours, we can't bite Smoke and Tess's heads off, we can't mark our house, and on and on and on!! Hmmmmpppphhhhhh!

Mom is planning to take a cruise with Smoke and Tess's mah-ahm the end of September and dad will stay home and dog sit with me and Hunter. So, that gives mom something to look forward to while she's working herself into a frenzy during these summer months!!

Anyway, even though not much is happening, glad I finally got mom to post here!

Well, my foster brother Hunter is doing lots better this round of HW treatment. He hasn't been so sick, with the high fever/lack of appetite. In only one week he will be treated for the baby HW's in his bloodstream and then hopefully we can let him out to run and play with me.

I sure like this fewwo, we hope once he can run and pway, we will still wike each uder and maybe mudder and fadder will tink bout dopting him to be a fureber member ob our famlee.

Our wedder has turned to spwing here, it'z been downwight warm heer, we'b eben run the a/c kwite a bit.

Mudder hazn't been a bery gud sekretawy ob wate.....wotz going on heer at home wif Hunter undergoing his HW tweetment and all the special care needed for our boi n his medication schedule....pwus, 6 dayz abter dat furst tweetment he gotz a feber and wudn't eat, so it waz off to de vet fur him, antibiotics and a steroid shot and home, den he was gud for anudder day, den he wudn't eat n had a feber egin...back to de vet for more antibiotics and anudder shot.....and a nite spent der....and I WEALLY missed him!! By de 9th day abter dat injecton he was doing gud....but he has to spend most ob de time in his cwate---poor widdle fewwo, but we kan't hab doze nasty wormz bweaking up in too big of pieces and going into his heart/wungz/brain and dat wud be de end ob him. Tursday ob dis week he had his 2nd injection, and he spent de nite at dat vet pwace egin.....I was mopey Tursday night and kept wooking where hiz cwate uzually iz....and neder de cwate not my fosser brudder were dere! He'z home az ob wast nite egin, and we hope he duzn't hab az much twubble diz time. He haz to be kept kwiet for anuddner monf, den he's tweated for de baby HW in his blood stwean and we can pwy wif each udder......and mom and dad day if we getz along when we can aktually pway wif each udder, dey mite tink bowt dopting dis boi, dat mite be fun!!

And, my grand-ma's wong-time "friend" (of the male kind) is BERY sick....it wooks like in a likelihood to be the big C of the liver....and grandma is habbing a hard time dealing wif it.....so mom has had to be devoting a gud amount ob time on de fone tingie wif her and bisiting, a 4 hour dribe one-way!

I am doing gud, mom and dad tink habbing Hunter heer is gweat for mee, I am getting bwaber bowt lotz ob tings, like going outside when de neighbor is on his widing mower!

Thunder and all kinds of things.....

Well, we had big thunderstorms last night. I did my usual hide under the end table thing. Even Hunter, who's not been scared of anything, was sort of trembling a little bit.

And, Hunter is having to get another liver test done on Tuesday. His blood work shows a bit of a high liver enzyme reading, and we've got to get him "normal" before he can be treated for his heartworms.

We love Hunter, and we pray we can get him well and ready for a long and healthy life with a wonderful forever family soon.

I Haz Anudder Fosser Brudder.....

and his name is Hunter. He came to stay wif us wast Sunday. He had been in a "kill" shelter in Houston and he was scheduled to be PTS de bery day dat Col Potter came to wescue him. He is a cairn "mix" it seems, pwobably bowt 90 pct cairn, 10 pct who knowz what??? He is bigger dan I am, about 22.5 lbs, wif WONG weggies. He jumped wight owt ob mommie's 36 inch high ex-pen like nothing to it, not once but twice!! So, mommie ordered the "lid" to the ex-pen and it awwived yesterday. Sadly, Hunter haz heartwormz, so he iz going to hab to go through dat tweatment pwocess and he will hab to be kept pwetty still and calm before he is tweated and most sertanly abter it. He is taking doxyclcline twice a day now for 3 weeks before hiz furst tweatment and he is getting neutered on Monday. He is a sweet boy, mommie and daddie alweady weally wove dis guy, and dey are alweady saying maybe he will become a permanent member ob our famlee. We will see how it goez. Hunter is a light wheaton cairn boy, he needs gwooming but mommie and daddie aren't going to stwess him out duing it kwite yet.

Pwease tink gud tots for dis widdle guy as he goez through the neutering on Monday and his heartworm tweatment!

Today mommie and daddie and Tibo weft de hows togedder and weft me here at home. Dey met a sweet wady who is going to be Tibo's fureber momma, and she wubbed ourTibo! She wooked into hiz big bwown eyez and she waz eben more in wubz wif him dan she waz just seeing his piktures. Mommie and daddie and I hab wurked so hard to help Tibo be weady for a fureber home, we all are pwaying dat dis is de wight home for him, and we tink it is! Dis wady iz bery nise and gentle and pasient, and she unnerstandz dat Tibo still haz some tings to wurk on fwom being in dat puppy mill for ober 4 yeers. Tibo has a widdle cairn sister named Sandy, too, just adopted fwom a shelter a cuple ob monfs ago, too. I know it seems wike I am aways tawking bowt thunderstorms, but it seems wike we are aways habbing dose nastee tings here in SE TX! We hab had dem almost ebery day dis week, not awl day, but ebery day! Wast nite we wost ewectricitee wif dat storm, too. Means no A/C, so it waz hot and dark in dis hows. Dat was mizerabel.

De wedder pursons say dis is going to be happening awl weekend, but at weast my hoomans will be home wif me through Monday.

And, Mom bot a new car three weeks ago, a Honda FIT, and I actually LIKE riding in it, for some reason I don't shake and pant riding in it like I always did in the CRV and in Dad's CRV. Who knowz why not?

Blondie and Dagwood's Pups........

Mom belongs to Col Potter Cairn Rescue Network, I was one of their rescues from a puppy mill. Col Potter brought in a young pair of cairns about 3 weeks ago, knowing that Blondie was going to have pups. Last Saturday Blondie had 8 puppies via c-section and mom and pups are doing well. We wanted to share a picture of 2 day old cairn puppies!

My Mom Spent the Weekend with Some Other Corn Terrors!

Mi mommie spent wast weekend in Biwoxi, MS at some ting called a CRAP! What is a CRAP? It is Cairn Rescue Annual Party. It is a fund wazer for Col Potter Cairn Rescue, which is the rescue organization dat gotz me owt of dat awful puppy mill in August 20o5. My mommie is a HSV coordinator for dem, too, so she awong wif wotz ob oder hoomans continue to wurk at getting wubbing homes for more corn terrors wike me.

Some ob de hoomans brot der corn terrors wif dem, and dis is a pikture ob just a few ob dem. Mommie weft me at home wif daddie, where bof ob us were happier dan wif wotz ob oder doggies and hoomans dey don't know.

Mommie sed dat doze oder corn terrors were pwetty, but being dat she wubz me, none were pwettier dan I am!!

Daddie and me were awfuwwy gwad to see Mommie when she gotz home, but de CRAP was fun for her and a big successful fund wazer for Col Potter.

Mudder and fadder r webing me at home today wile day take a wong widdle dwibe. Dey are going to hep anudderwiddle corn terror dawg come into Col Potter Corn Terror Rescue's woving arms.

Dis widdle girl is an "owner surrender" and she's starting up in de Dallas, TX awea, den to Mexia, TX, den to Madisonville, TX were mudder and fadder will pik her up and dey will take her to Beaumont, TX where de foster momma will pik her up and take her to Lake Charles, LA. She's a bee-uu-tee-ful widdle gurl fwom wat we know, wheaton with black tip ears, and a tiny girl, 13 lbs. I weigh 18 lbs and I'm a widdle girl myself!

Enyway, I don't much wike widing in a behicle, so I will stay home and comfy until the hoomans come home.

Well, guess we shudn't komplane here in TX bowt de wedder abter seeing all de weportz fwom our fwiends in CO and OH and MO and NY, but it'z been kind ob cold and wainy heer for wat seemz wike weekz and weekz!!

Enyway, I gotz a nise wong walkie wit my daddy egin yesderday, and wit de niser wedder, der were mice and wabbits owt expworing, too! I had gweat fun chasing dem.

Well, my sckretary has not taken an entry for me here in a while, so I finely made her sit here wile I write a note! Can yu beweive itz almost Valentine's Day? Wow, time is sure going fast!

It'z been cold here, and we didn't hab heet in dis howz for 5 dayz caws a part bwoke on de heeting system. BBBRRRRR. I kind of wiked do cool howz, but de hoomanz wurn't zo happee!! I zoomed and pwayed and had a gud time.
